Scot Sutherland nominated for a 2022 Blues Music Award

Scot Sutherland has been nominated for a 2022 Blues Music Award for Instrumentalist - bassist. The Blues Music Awards will be held in Memphis, Tennessee on May 5th, 2022. This is Scot's 3rd BMA nomination for bass, he was also nominated in 2013 and 2019. Scot has previously won two BMAs as a member of Band of the Year - in 2010 as a member of the Tommy Castro Band and in 2019 as a member of the Welch-Ledbetter Connection. Welch-Ledbetter Connection wins BMA for Band of the Year
The whole Welch-Ledbetter Connection family (plus Eric Gales!) was on-hand at the 2019 Blues Music Awards to celebrate winning band of the year. We miss Mike Ledbetter beyond measure and we are thankful for the recognition this special band has received.

2018 inductee of the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame!
In 2018 Scot Sutherland became one of the youngest (if not THE youngest) inductee into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame. This honor recognizes Scot's contribution to the rich blues history of Iowa. Scot's musical journey began in Iowa and it has taken him around the world. He joins other notable IBHoF members such as: Elvin Bishop, Richie Hayward (drummer, Little Feat), Shaun Murphy (vocalist), and former Blues Foundation president, Jay Sielman. |
